Zatoichi, starring and directed by Kitano Takeshi, was the last cinematic adventure undertaken by the Red Queen and I here in Park City. We tried to get in to see Riding Giants, the latest film from Dogtown & Z-Boys director Stacy Peralta, which chronicles the seaside adventures of the heroic, and oftentimes deliquent, big wave surfers.

Sundance Pt. Deux

Last night I went to the World Premiere of Saved, the new film featuring Jenna Malone, Macauly Culkin, Patrick Fugit and Mandy Moore. The film is fantastic and given the crush of “up and coming” new stars, it stands to reason that the premiere event would be well-attended by the peers of these rising stars.

Quite possibly the best movie ever made about making a movie is The Big Picture, with Kevin Bacon.

I like this film a great deal but not because it’s anything spectacular. The acting is ok, the music is random and aside from having 10 or 15 degrees of Kevin Bacon (Jennifer Jason Leigh, Terri Hatcher, J.T. Walsh, Martin Short, Fran Drescher, and John Cleese), it has no one thing that makes it great.
